platinum Last week, I decided that I wasn’t going to buy anymore games until I achieved Platinum or 100% Trophies on all of my current games. A bit more than a week later, how’s it going? Well, I am a bit sad that I won’t be playing Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for a while, but my resolve has held intact despite Black Friday’s temptations. As far as progress goes, here’s some snippets of the thoughts I’ve had so far:

Call of Duty: World at War: 50%
I need to complete all of the levels of Veteran (the highest difficulty), which, at this point, should get me another 11 Trophies closer to the finish. I know that a lot of reviewers dinged Resistance 2 for enemies in the single player that seem to ignore everyone except you., but the problem is much worse in COD. So much so that often, it is very hard to tell whicc guys are on your side. At least in Resistance, the enemies are clearly not human. In COD, it’s not too rare to see two guys, on opposing sides, shooting in different directions while standing right next to each other. Of course, the moment I’m within range, the bad one immediately turns on me and kills me before I can exclaim, “that guy’s not on my te–?”

Still, I trudge on. Three nights ago, it took me two hours to get to the first checkpoint in the level, “Relentless.” So. Many. Bad guys.

Resistance 2: 46%
Yay! The last two intel pieces in the single player campaign are mine! I had missed them in chapter 4 the first time through on Normal. I gotta say though that after the pounding I’ve been taking in COD, Resistance 2′s Difficult mode isn’t so bad. Strangly, I don’t seem to be dying so much now that I’m playing on Difficult, probably because I know what’s coming. I guess those really were cheap deaths. Bad Insomniac. Bad.

Now, I understand, all I have to do is beat the game on this mode, then on Superhuman. (Bah..) Then play a ton of co-op and competitive to achieve the rank of Lieutenant and get a million XP or something.

Warhawk: 54%
I don’t know that I really understood what it would take to get Platinum in Warhawk when I made my declaration last week. Take “General” for example, I have to make it to the General rank to get it. That means, without even talking about the feats I need to perform ingame, I need to get 275000 global points. So far, my average game gets me 100 or so points for a win, giving me about 200 points per hour. At 20 hours of Warhawk a week, it would take 69 weeks just to get the points to rank up to General.

Note to self: play more Warhawk.

Seeing as I’ll need to spend a lot of time with this game, I’m not so worried about any of the other Trophies, which mostly involve pulling off tricky “stunts,” like bombing a plane with anti infantry artillery. In fact, with the help of the Thursday GAP game, I was able to get most of these in one sitting. Not sure if that’s taken some of the adventure out of trying to do these things in ranked games. When I got the “Are You Aim-Botting” Trophy at the buzzer in a ranked CTF, it was pretty awesome.Guess I won’t be hearing the Trophies “ding” quite so often anymore.

Some of you may have seen me playing Mirror’s Edge recently, a game not on my Path to Platinum list. I just want to say that I didn’t buy that game. I rented it through GameFly. Knowing myself, I can’t resist checking out the newest games as soon as possible, so renting is okay. It just means that I won’t be checking them out as quickly as before.

On that note, Mirror’s Edge is really cool. I leave you with that.

See you on PSN.
