So, yesterday, I was working on making a database of sorts using OpenOffice.org Base and MySQL on my laptop (don’t know how it’s all going to work yet), and I somehow managed to smash our glass coffee table. Somewhat cut up my fingers. It makes it a bit difficult to do things (mostly, anything that involves water), but I should be fine. We did end up with a new coffee table and dining table when all was said and done. Yay, new furniture!

How many of you have beaten Grand Theft Auto 4? I sure haven’t. It usually takes me a while to get into these games. Like last time, I just suddenly realized that GTA: San Andreas was pretty fun. Shortly after, I beat it and the two before it back to back. This one is taking me even longer get a feel for though. The main character, Niko, just doesn’t make sense to me yet. He seems like he wants to be a good guy, and the game allows for you play it that way.

Most of the time.

There are, however, points in the story where suddenly, no matter what you do, you have to kill people. I’ve barely carjacked anyone, much less hit anyone, yet these situations arise and it just feels like the game is fighting the way I want to play. I guess it is called "Grand Theft Auto," but if the game makers give me these choices, don’t just half-ass the consequences. I want the whole thing.

Anyways, I’m going to add GTA4 to my game progress bars and keep you posted.

Final Update
I would anticipate these keys being sent out tomorrow or Wednesday. Thanks for entering!!

Whaaat…

This was the latest news on the status of the LittleBigPlanet beta keys Gamespot.com held a giveaway for last Thursday evening. Thursday! At the time, I was looking forward to playing some LBP and making some stuff with my friends visiting from out of town over the weekend. Then, I heard it was going to take a little while for them to gather up the winners, so maybe Friday. Okay that sucks, but it’s fine. Then Monday, and now Wednesday? The beta ends on the 11th! The game will basically be out by then!

You know, ever since Jeff Gerstmann was fired for maybe writing a review that the game maker wasn’t happy with, Gamespot has needed all the good press it can get. This long, long wait can’t be helpful, especially when competing sites have already sent their keys out.

On a positive note, it seems that every time a LBP beta  giveaway pops up, the keys disappear faster than a Wii on roller skates. Sure, some people are selling them on eBay ($90 a pop), but that shows just how much people are looking forward to this game.

Gah.

The wait continues.

Ever since the beta for LittleBigPlanet was unleashed on a few lucky testers, there’s been a lot of videos showing off exactly what people will be making once this thing gets out. First, they’ll copy stuff: Mario, Space Invaders, Halo, even a very impressive looking Tetris machine. Then we’ll see little gadgets and thrill rides like this. With a bit more polish, this could actually be pretty fun level, beyond the one trick pony it is now. I mean that in a good way. Add some jumps, get that loop working better, maybe some more gadgets, it’ll be great.

God, I hope I get into the beta today.
