G.A.P.

Based on the blog post “Feelin` Fine,” originally published on Playstation Underground Gamer Advisory Panel (GAP) 2007-06-28 14:05:

Hey everybody, it’s been a while.

So, it’s looking like a good week for PlayStat3rs. First we get a bunch of new release: The Bigs, The Darkness, Harry Potter, Rainbow Six: Vegas, and Transformers. Surprisingly, Harry Potter isn’t so bad. The Bigs got decent reviews. The Darkness as well, and Ubisoft didn’t manage to mess up the port of Rainbow Six (too much). Transformers didn’t fare so well, but it is exciting to change into a car. Still, Transformers, shame on you.

Update 1.82 arrived, though it seemed like minor update for most. There’s some new stuff on Home. Don’t think I’m really supposed to talk about that, though I learned about it myself surfing the web. Funny how that works. Still, now that I’ve seen it, with all the new ******** and ***********, additional *********** refinements and ******** support, I do want to say that Home is going to rock.

Finally, Thursday we’re getting Super Stardust HD on PSN, the new GTA IV trailer, and a demo for the upcoming Dynasty Warriors: Gundam. Nice.

The Resistance global servers update and map packs are up on Friday. Great additions. I particularly like the addition of facial expressions for the humans. So, now where you talk into the headset as a human, your character’s mouth moves. Not only that, but with a keyboard hooked up, holding the keys 1 through 0 changes the expression on your character’s face. Fun times. Click here for a more detailed breakdown on what’s new.

On the regular web front, the offical Playstation Blog kicked off its “Inside the Developers Studio,” Pre-E3 mini series with people behind God of War: Chains of Olympus, PAIN, NBA08 and Eye of Judgement. The feature hit a bit of a bump at the beginning, but it’s really picking up and should make for some nice casual entertainment reading before the big show in, wow, less than 12 days. It’s nice to see SCEA is trying to become more personable, if that is the word.

Also on the web, we get this little bit of release date info from Kotaku:

Truth? Well, difficult to say. According to the article, SCEE sent the list out to press outlets in Spain. The one thing that makes the list look suspect, is the fact that Time Crisis 4 is in there as the only non-Sony game, unless they’re going to publish it in the EU. Still, if this is true, we have much to look forward to. Even the PS2 is still going strong. Odin’s Sphere, Tomb Raider, and Grim Grimgroire are well worth checking out, if you haven’t yet.

[Updates]

-Looks like Eye of Judgment was officially confirmed for the Fall at Threespeech. Hmmm…

-Now, Lair just got an official date and downloadable demo confirmation. Bring on July!

So all in all, I’m having a good PS3 week. Just wanted to share. See you all around.

  1. Looks like I need to start checking Kotaku more! :) …great find on the release dates!

I’m still tearing through “The Darkness”, having emerged from Hell, found the key to the Old City Hall service entrance, and now I’m running missions for Vinny. I didn’t know about the phone numbers of posters, but I’ve been dialing every collectible I’ve found.

I’ll have to pay more attention to the posters, I’ve only been looking at the pictures and titles. Some of the graffiti is awesome, I laugh every time as I pass the “Party Devil” Watching TVs can be addictive too, I really enjoy the full episode they have of Flash Gordon with Buster Crabbe as Flash and Jean Rogers as Dale. I feel guilty just watching TV instead of going on with my current “mission.”

I see you and Enforcer_X have the top Super Stardust HD scores for the time being. Me, Dillmister, MyLegsHurt, and Paroxysm are all catching up.

I have family over this week, so I won’t be able to play as much as I’d like without ignoring our guests. I’ll try to catch up and play more this weekend. Great games, great news for us PS3ers. (Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, and Lair are all tops on my list)

  2. Was that really a score of 21-million I saw on my Super Stardust HD buddy list? I was happy to hit 1.5-million today after collecting enough Rock Busters so that it fires 3 at time very quickly. I’ll occasionally get up to 4x multipliers, but then won’t live long enough to make a difference.

Congrats on the uber-high score! …hopefully I’ll be able to catch up soon. Are there any threads on GAP for a “what’s your highest score in SS:HD?” :)
