Crush.

Actually, I have nothing to say about Crush, because I don’t have it yet. I pre-ordered it, and it’s out, but my local GS/EB hasn’t gotten it in, even though it was released two weeks ago. Apparently, the solution is to refund me and tell me to buy it elsewhere. Seems fair, but when you pay money to guarantee yourself a copy when the game comes out, shouldn’t that mean something? Maybe the pitch should be, “Five dollars down and if we get the the game, we’ll hold it for you.” Eh, I guess that’d be a hard sell then.

So that’s my thing right now. Seems there’s been a lot of GS / EB hate recently. Check out Pre-Order Pushers, a new blog on the subject for some of the stories out there. Pretty crazy, though to be fair, a lot of it doesn’t have to do with GS / EB as a company, just the low priority they take in getting good people to work their stores. There’s also a pretty good article on the Pre-Order System at Bits, Bytes, Pixels & Sprites. Read, come back, discuss. I have time, since I have no Crush.

What do I think about pre-orders? They’re okay. When you get the game, and they really don’t cost anything. It’s the sales pressure from people who can’t handle it that’s bad. Those people are the ones who feel the need to lie and cheat to make the sale. Those are the ones who mess it up for the rest of us. So when a good guy or girl offers you a pre-order, don’t be mad. I mean, it is a store. Where else would you expect to be sold stuff?
