09 Jan 2007 Extreme Conditions (Lost Planet for 360)
 |  Category: Xbox 360

The drought sure ended fast with Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions coming out so soon after the holiday season. It seems that the old model of only releasing blockbuster games in the last months of the year is slowly becoming less and less relevant.

So why are we excited about Lost Planet, you ask? First of all, it’s a really good looking game. The details in everything are just amazing. The snow looks especially nice, which is good since you’ll see a lot of it. See, the game takes place on a frozen planet inhabited by these bug like creatures that secrete this stuff that your protective suit can use for heat energy to heal you and keep you from freezing to death.

If that strange sci-fi setting doesn’t excite you, the gameplay will. Lost Planet is a third person action shooter that just throws a ton of enemies at you at a time. I’ve always thought that that’s exactly what the power of next-gen should be used for. It’s nice to see that someone is doing it. The first time I played this game was on a demo disc from last year and the explosions all around me were extremely intense. The enemy soldier didn’t seem too smart, but there were lots of them and they have guns. Marines rushing you is a lot different from Zerglings rushing you.

Anyways, if you don’t trust me, and why would you, here’s some links to more reputable gaming sites to convince you that you want this game.
